Sugar cane cultivation in the Canary Islands was already under way when Christopher Columbus arrived there. In the eighteenth century, production began of a special Rum, blended with 2%-3% bees’ honey, which was granted a designation of origin in 2005.
The Aldea Distillery, founded in 1936 in Gran Canaria and later moved to Las Palmas, produces this Rum following local traditions and using ancient methods, supported by the rich natural and cultural resources of the island.
