HSE is the forerunner of special barrel aging and quality finishes. Using different sugarcane varietals, it gives its rums very complex and fragrant scents.
HSE was founded on the ruins of “La Maugée”, a 19th century sugar refinery, which was transformed into a distillery in 1882. Today, HSE fully manages the production of sugar cane, growing it on volcanic and marine soils to create rums with unique flavours.
A pioneer in the use of specialty barrels, HSE introduces quality finishes such as Port, Sherry and Whisky and ages some white rums for up to two years to soften their flavours.
