Pusser’s Rum is the only rum produced according to the ancient recipes of the British Royal Navy, known from 1655 to 1970 as “Navy Rum”. The term “Pusser” comes from “Purser”, the officer responsible for the daily administration of rum. Charles Tobias, a former naval officer, took over the traditional recipe in 1979, breathing new life into Pusser’s Rum.
STYLISTIC
Its Gunpowder is bottled at full strength, at the strength at which gunpowder could ignite, even when soaked in rum. Distilled in the Port Mourant Pot Still, the only still from the 1700s still in operation, made of Amazonian wood, Pusser’s ages in toasted oak barrels for at least three years. Completely natural, it is appreciated for its full-bodied and rounded taste, the result of a perfectly balanced blend of molasses from the Demerara Valley.
