Grand Calcaire expresses the ambition of two cousins, Gruhier & Delaunay, 5th generation vignerons and négociants in bringing out the Chablisien charisma at its best: rigor, tension, finesse and savoriness. The essence of a severe terroir is concentrated in each sip, with distinctly citrine notes in the Petit Chablis, more moderate, moving from the Chablis, in a crescendo of elegance and complexity, to the Premier Cru Vacoupin.
Grand Calcaire already encapsulates the value of Chablis in its name. Minerality, elegance and freshness thanks to the calcareous soil with shaded plots, combined with a soil rich in marine sediments and the continental cold, which give these Chardonnays an excellent tension.
