Terre Margaritelli was founded in 1950 by Fernando Margaritelli who, retiring from business at the age of 60, decided to start producing wine for his family for his own pleasure.
In 2000, Giuseppe Margaritelli, Fernando’s son, decided to expand the property and create the Terre Margaritelli Winery project. From here, the replanting of the vineyard (Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Grechetto), the first vinifications and the transition to organic farming began. The company has the EQualitas certification, evidence of its commitment to the conservation of biodiversity and the landscape, the reduction of the use of resources and the adoption of organic farming practices.
ZONE
In 1962, Margaritelli, in order to control the entire production chain of railway sleepers, built a sawmill in France, 25 km from Baune, in the heart of Burgundy, to source oak directly from the rich French forests. Here, the opportunity arose to carry out a unique research in collaboration with a group of French institutions to verify whether the impact of oak on wine changed depending on the forest from which the oak came. The study highlighted that the best result was obtained by refining the wine in oak from the Bertrange forest in Burgundy, which gives the nectar a very delicate profile with fresh balsamic notes.
